STEELHEAD:
Mike Sprowls from Washington, PA caught this beautiful 15 pound 2 ounce male Steelhead at Trout Run. It was 33 inches long and had a girth of 20 ½ inches. He used Green power bait.

Frank Jankovic of Rochester, PA brought this one in for weighing. It weighed 13 pounds 14 ½ ounces, was 33 inches long and had a girth of 19 inches. He caught it at Manchester hole in Walnut Creek with a wooly bugger fly. Color was Olive.

Dave Dawson from Crafton Heights, PA brought this female in to get weighed. She weighed 7 pounds and was 25 inches long with a 15 ½ inch girth. He caught her on a Little Cleo. Color was Blue and Silver.

The boats out in front of the Creeks are picking up a few here and there but nothing great. The fish don’t seem to be there in full force. The ones the boaters are getting are putting up a good fight and usually getting away. They are spooked. (That is what I heard someone say and I like to think that too.) There are a few up in the creek but not near what we usually get for a run so either the run isn’t here yet or we are in for a slow year of Steelhead fishing. I still think that the run isn’t here yet and in about a couple weeks it should be pretty good. (My theory)

Now, I have not had any other fish come in for weighing. I believe that is because of the weather and not too many people are going out to get the Walleye or Perch. I know of a couple boats who got some but I didn’t get any pictures. There are still a couple of nice days coming. We still have Indian summer coming you know so don’t fret. The Perch are out in 42 – 62 ft of water. I have heard guys say they got them in both depths and in between.
As for the Walleye I have not heard any good reports about them. Like I said the weather was not co-operating with the fishing.

The weather for the next couple days looks dreary too. It is supposed to rain for the next couple days. The creek is up and muddy right now because we had rain last night (Wednesday) and today it rained most of the day off and on. The lake wasn’t really bad though. We had 2 ft waves up till around 3 PM and then they went to 3 ft. It usually takes 24-48 hours after a rain to settle down. The water temperature seems to linger around 65 degrees. Some days it’s 65 some days it 64 degrees but it keeps staying around there. It has been like that for a couple weeks now.

Well, see you all at the nut.
