Walleye fishing was slow west of the islands because of the recent major mayfly hatch, giving the fish ample food.
There was some action northwest of West Sister Island, but the majority of the fish in that area are the 2003 hatch, which are running 13 to 14-1/2 inches. There was plenty of action, but not a lot of fish going in the cooler. Some of the charter boats are running 20 to 25 miles east to Lorain to drift and troll, with mixed results. I am going to head to Pelee Island in Canada in search of walleyes in the deeper water off of some of the reefs. I will give you my results in my next fish report.
