Lake Erie Fishing Report: March 28, 2002 Central Basin Streams: Fishing was excellent last week prior to the recent snow and now streams are high and muddy. Expect excellent fishing to return next week after streams recede. Fresh fish were found in good numbers before streams rose so expect them to be well-distributed as conditions improve. More big fish in the 10- to 15-pound range have been taken recently. River anglers have experienced some fine catches throughout stream reaches using spawn bags, jigs & maggots, minnows, or flies such as woolly buggers, weighted nymphs, egg patterns and streamers that imitate shiners. Anglers should note that if you are on private property, you must have landowner permission. A new fishing license for the 2002/2003 fishing season was required as of March 1.
