Regulations to Remember:
The daily bag limit for walleye on Ohio waters of Lake Erie is four fish per angler from March 1 through April 30. The minimum size limit for walleye is 15 inches.
The daily bag limit for yellow perch is 30 fish per angler on all Ohio waters of Lake Erie.
The trout and salmon daily bag limit is 2 fish with a minimum size limit of 12 inches.
The black bass (largemouth and smallmouth bass) daily bag limit is five fish per angler with a 14-inch minimum size limit.
Where: Open water fishing for walleye is underway and fish have been caught by trolling in deeper water just off the Camp Perry firing range reef complex, mostly south of the range and east of the range. Fish have also been caught near South Bass Island.
How: Fish are being caught on deep diving crankbaits trolled in the top half of the water column at very slow speeds around 1 mph.
The Lake Erie water temperature is 38 off Toledo and 38 off Cleveland according to the nearshore marine forecast.
Anglers are encouraged to always wear a U.S. Coast Guard-approved personal flotation device while boating.
