Strong storms and high winds the weekend of May 8 and 9 temporarily slowed fishing around the western basin of Lake Erie. Leading up to the weekend walleye fishing had been best west of the Bass Islands, around A and B cans of the Camp Perry firing range, and north of Kelleys Island. When the weather stabilizes and the water begins to clear expect walleye fishing to improve. Good catches of yellow perch had been reported between Marblehead and Kelleys Island, east of Kelleys Island, and north of Lorain.
