** The 15" walleye minimum size limit remains in effect for the entire
season. Anglers are reminded that the daily bag limit for trout and
salmon on Lake Erie and its tributaries is 2, beginning September 1
through May 15, 2005. The minimum size limit is 12 inches.**

Over the past weekend (Jan. 22 and 23) near blizzard conditions limited
most fishing opportunities. Ice conditions should continue to improve
with a week of cold weather in the forecast. Generally protected areas
of Sandusky Bay, shoreline harbors and the Bass Islands are first to
support ice fishing, with unprotected main lake areas of Lake Erie
always being risky due to under-ice currents and winds that can open
large cracks in the ice. Check with local bait stores or ice guides
before scheduling ice fishing trips.
