*Most of the western basin of Lake Erie has ice cover. Use extreme caution
when ice fishing. Currents and windy weather conditions cause areas of
unsafe ice.*

Western basin main lake areas are improving, but open water and thin ice
still exist. Anglers have started fishing west of South Bass Island for
walleye and yellow perch, with the only safe access to the area being from
South Bass Island. Mainland fishing has started in nearshore areas around
Catawba State Park and various marinas in Marblehead and Catawba. Anglers
are also fishing for yellow perch and bullhead on the following areas of
Sandusky Bay: White's Landing, Crystal Rock and around the old route 2 dike.

Steelhead:

Lake Erie's tributaries have for the most part become ice locked. Steelhead
fishing is likely over until later this spring.
